Date Night Style | Jewels and Gold

When I was younger I used to look forward to the days that I could forgo makeup, forget my hair, and stay in my pajamas all day. Working full-time, going to school full-time, dating, and juggling the demands of family, friends, and church left me with little time to be undone. I always had to be made up. Now, as a mom of a toddler, the tables have turned. I look forward to any excuse to get ready. Applying eye shadow (something I rarely have time for), curling my hair, donning heels--the occasions that demand these tasks are so few and far between that I've learned to relish them.

Our weekly date night is one such occasion that I can rely on for some relief from my typical mom attire (jeggings/yoga pants/t-shirts). Although I'm well aware that my appearance does not define my worth and is only a small part of my identity, I love feeling done up and polished.

This outfit was particularly fun for me.The neutral tones are jazzed up a bit with the jeweled shoulder, subtle printed jeans, and a pop of gold on the stilettos. The blouse seemed to me to have a vintage vibe, so I paired it with retro side-swept hair, red lips, and a clutch to complete the effect.

Do you get excited for any excuse to dress up? Or are you in a place in life where a casual day is a nice reprieve?

Mixing Style: Spring Floral + Combat Boots

Despite my reservations, I've decided to start incorporating more fashion into my blog. Not only will it inspire me to dress up more frequently (as a mom of a toddler, any excuse is a good one) but I also want to create a place for others to find modest fashion inspiration. I am constantly looking to other bloggers for a positive influence, and I would love to be a part of the fashion community in this way. Plus, I have an awesome husband who is willing to be my photographer.
I love this dress and want to fill my closet with others like it. The cut is modest, yet flattering and the floral print is pretty, which makes me feel pretty.

I decided to pair it with skinny yoga pants (they make the best, comfiest leggings in my opinion), a belt, minimal gold and pearl jewelry, and combat-style boots to mix it up a little.
Oh! And some bright pink lipstick.
I'm loving all of the fun, flirty lip colors on the market right now.
These boots are one of my absolute favorites. They pair well with everything from floral dresses to jeans and a t-shirt. They have a small heel to give a little boost to those (like me) who are vertically challenged, yet they're still ridiculously comfortable.
These earrings remind me of something straight out of Madmen.
This is why I love them.
An outfit like this works well for those of us with busy lifestyles, such as a mom on the go.
And the best part? The skirt is perfect for twirling.
