They Say it's Your Birthday...

Last Friday was Sam's 26th birthday. Happy Birthday Honey!
Your friends said you wouldn't make it past 25. You sure showed them!
To celebrate the triumph of making it past a quarter of a century, we had some good friends over for Sam's two favorite foods in the world:
hamburgers and hot dogs.
And Brownies.

I can get on board with the brownies, because let's face it... they're kind of perfection in dessert form. Hamburgers and hotdogs on the other hand? Well, let's just say it wouldn't be my first choice for a birthday feast. Sam and I have very different tastes. I love branching out and trying new things. My heaven would consist of endless gourmet small plates for me to sample and graze on. Sam, on the other hand, prefers to stick to the basics. He travels all over, dining in world famous locations... and his typical order consist of a burger and fries. I married a man of simple tastes, I suppose.

Ah well, at least he likes my cooking :)
Although, to be fair, his love of simple food has recently lent itself to a potential future moneymaking business venture. He and his friend Jesse have created and perfected a burger that even I have to admit is pretty awesome. Thus, Friday was a party for Sam, but it was also the debut of the "Creamy Sam" burger.  Beta testing, if you will. (Hence the little party flags with a "CS" in his brownies...it isn't a burger debut without little decorative flags). I won't say too much about the recipe (they're afraid someone might steal it before they can capitalize on it) but I will say it was a hit at the party. Rumor has it the burger will hit the market in the summer of 2016. The friends-turned-chefs are convinced it will take the world by storm... here's to hoping they're right :) Why I don't have a photo of the burger, I'm not sure. Maybe those two were so paranoid about someone taking their idea that they destroyed all the evidence? They were my photographers so I'm thinking this theory has some merit... I guess you'll just have to use your imagination. Or wait until 2016.
Also, on a different note,  I felt the need to throw up some decorations for this party. Let's face it... I'm kind of addicted to Zurcher's. Plus, I have so much fun taking Klair in that store. It's a sensory overload shopping dream come true for my baby girl. Balloons everywhere? Paradise. She loved bringing these ones home and playing with our friends' kids that came over. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of my baby running around, playing with kids. I love it, but it's soooo strange!
As far as parties go, I think it was a real success. I am seriously grateful to have such a great group of friends! Sam actually came down with something after his party (happy birthday to him, right?) so we enjoyed a lazy Saturday and had a little celebration with his family on Sunday. And that brings us to today, the first chance I've had to post. Now that everyone around here is feeling healthy and the teething of baby Klair has (temporarily) passed, I'm hopeful I will have more time to devote to the blog this week. I've missed it. I've grown pretty fond of this little corner of the internet that I can call my own.

Also, this.
I have no words for this.
Hahaha, happy Monday everyone!
